De Jonge Guitars
Sergei de Jonge

Sergei de Jonge was born in The Hague, Netherlands in 1949 and moved to Canada as a child. In the early 1970’s he apprenticed with Jean Larrivee and Patt Lister, later starting his own workshop and distinguishing himself as a highly regarded classical and steel string guitar builder. Sergei strove always to improve comfort, playability, structure, tone, and aesthetics in concert guitars, which have over time proved to be durable and long lasting. He recently was one of 7 luthiers who comprised the highly successful Group of 7 Guitar Project at the McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinberg, Ontario, Canada.

In the late 60’s I was inspired by my teacher’s superb handmade guitar–I wanted to make a guitar like that! Now, after building over 1000 instruments I still get excited each time I start a new guitar.”
